Top Ten Tuesday (9)

Happy Tuesday! Today I've decided to participate in Top Ten Tuesday, formerly hosted by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish, now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today's topic is:

Frequently Used Words In [Insert Genre/Age Group] Titles

(I chose "Fire" in YA Titles!)

The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1)
Fire and Heist  Girls of Paper and Fire

It's funny because I just did a post on favorite YA books with the word "shadow" in the title. So I did "fire" for today's TTT. I cheated a little because the last three are books I have not read yet, but hope to do so this year!

  5. You're right...YA does tend to use the word fire a lot, and a lot of other words too, which I'm sure can be confusing sometimes. haha

  6. Fire definitely seems a big one for YA titles. I can see why- it tells the reader they are in for some action.

  14. When I saw your topic, a few of the books on your list popped into my head. The Girl of Fire and Thorns is one of my favorite series, and Fire was probably my favorite Graceling book.

  16. Fire is definitely an overused word in YA titles. Bonus points to Rachel Carson for using it in the just as prevalent trend of naming YA books in the format of "A _____ of ____ and ____"! :D
